Youth

Youth formation at All Souls is the work of the entire parish. Youth Group for middle school and high school is an important part of our youth formation and provides a safe place for our older children and teens to engage with their questions, their faith and the stuff of daily life as a community. Another central place where formation takes place is during our Sunday worship services. Youth participate as leaders every time they serve as acolytes, readers and ushers.

Confirmation for older teenagers, led by clergy and lay people in the parish, is an intentional process of examining their faith and relationship with God as they prepare to make an adult faith commitment. Our monthly Open Door Dinner offers formation through service as youth, alongside adults in the parish, help to prepare and serve a hot meal to the homeless and those in need in our community.

Youth Sunday every spring is a time when our youth plan and lead an entire Sunday worship service, including selecting music, writing the prayers and preaching – a process that invites them to claim their voices and share their vision. It is our hope and belief that by fully engaging our youth in the life of the parish they will be formed as people of faith ready to work for God’s mission of justice, compassion and reconciliation in the world.
