Every Advent, as we prepare for the coming of the Christ, the Holy One born in a stable, we gather offerings for members of our community who are in need of care. In the past few years, each for a week in Advent, we have gathered:
- Teddy Bears for Family Paths Inc. of Alameda County, a non-profit organization that provides mental health, counseling and therapy services to low income, multi-stressed families.
- Art supplies for the Episcopal Sanctuary, a 198-bed emergency shelter for homeless adults.
- Non-perishable food for the Berkeley Food Pantry.
- New, warm socks for the elderly residents of the Kyakameena Nursing Facility.
