The Rev. Dr. Daniel Prechtel

Daniel (he/him) was ordained in 1984 and served as rector of St. John’s Church, Charlotte, Michigan for 11 years. Daniel was adjunct faculty for spiritual formation and sometime chaplain at Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, where he earned his doctor of ministry degree in 2002. He served 12 years as a faculty member, practicum supervisor, and small group leader program director for the Institute of Spiritual Companionship. In 2009 Daniel moved to the Bay Area with his wife, Ruth Meyers. Daniel supervises spiritual direction students for the Chaplaincy Institute’s interfaith spiritual direction program. He is an Oblate with St. Gregory’s Abbey, a Benedictine community of Episcopalians in Three Rivers, Michigan. He is the author of three books: Where Two or Three Are Gathered: Spiritual Direction for Small Groups (2012); Light on the Path: Guiding Symbols for Insight and Discernment (2016); and Soul Journeys: Christian Spirituality and Shamanism as Pathways for Wholeness and Understanding (2020).
