The Rev. Emily Boring
Emily (she/her) joined the team at All Souls in the fall of 2023. Originally from Oregon (Salem and Corvallis), she comes as a graduate from Yale Divinity School and a priest out of the Diocese of Western Oregon. Prior to her call to ministry she was a marine biologist. She earned a Masters of Science in Integrative Biology from Oregon State University, and her B.S. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from Yale. In college she studied the evolution of fish and discovered two new species! Her creative nonfiction has appeared in The Atlantic, The Christian Century, Yale Scientific, Yale Literary Magazine, and Yale Distilled, among others. She is working on her first book, a collection of nonfiction essays about selfhood, belonging, and resilience. When not in church, you can find her writing, scuba diving, exploring tidepools, or adoring her family’s orange cat.
Emily’s main areas of responsibility are Children & Family Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Pastoral Care (including Stephen Ministry and Lay Eucharistic Visitors). She works Sunday through Wednesday.
